VirtualBox
VirtualBox היא תוכנה להפעלת מכונות וירטואליות המפותחת על ידי אורקל. היא מיועדת בעיקר להפעלה מסביבת שולחן העבודה ומאפשרת להריץ בקלות יחסית מערכת הפעלה אחת מתוך מערכת הפעלה אחרת.התוכנה פותחה על ידי חברת התוכנה הגרמנית אינוטק. הגרסה הראשונה שוחררה תחת רישיון קנייני, ובינואר 2007 הפיצה החברה גרסה תחת רישיון GPL.[1] בשנת 2008 נרכשה החברה על ידי סאן מיקרוסיסטמס.[2] סאן נרכשה בשנת 2010 על ידי חברת אורקל.
התוכנה מופצת בשתי גרסאות:עקב הצורך ברישוי כפול, תרומת קוד לפרויקט מחייבת השמת זכויות יוצרים לאורקל, או ליתר דיוק מתן הרשאה לאורקל לשנות את הרישיון של הקוד כרצונה.[4]
