HAARP
H.A.A.R.P (שם מלא: High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program) הוא חקר ביונוספרה, שכבה באטמוספירה, הממוקמת מעל הסטרטוספירה.[1] המחקר מְמֻמָּן על ידי חיל האויר וחיל הים האמריקני בשיתוף עם אוניברסיטת אלסקה וסוכנות הפרויקטים למחקר מתקדם להגנה (DARPA). פרויקט HAARP הוא מקור לתיאוריות קונספירציה רבות שעיקרן הטיית מזג אויר עולמי.
מטרת המחקר בכלליות היא חקר הפוטנציאל בהשבחה מלאכותית של ביונוספרה בעבור תקשורת גלי רדיו ולמטרות מעקב.[2] המחקר בוחן את שכבת הביונוספרה. השכבה העליונה והדקה באטמוספירה. השכבה דקה דייה עד כדי כך שקרינת UV וקרינת XRAY מהשמש לא מגיעות אליה, אבל היא מכילה רכיבים שכן סופגים את חלקיקי הקרינה. יחודיות השכבה היא בכמות האלקטרונים החופשים בה. שכבת האלקטרונים החופשים יציבה בטווח הנע בין 30 ל-300 קילומטר. האלקטרונים נופלים כשהאטמוספירה נעלמת ב1000 קילומטר. המחקר מודד הין היתר שינוים לדקה, ליום, לעונה ולשנה. ע“פ דוחות המחקר, השינוים מורכבים במיוחד בסמוך לקטבים עקב השדה המגנטי ועשוים להוות חלק בשנויו.
