פאולו פריירה (בפורטוגזית: Paulo Freire; 19 בספטמבר 1921, רסיפה - 2 במאי 1997, סאו פאולו) היה מחנך ברזילאי ותאורטיקן של החינוך רב השפעה. התפרסם בזכות עבודתו בתחום החינוך העממי, שבאה לידי ביטוי בפעילותו להרחבת ומיסוד מערכת החינוך וייסוד בתי ספר כמו גם ביצירת תודעה לערכו של החינוך. פריירה נחשב לאחד ההוגים הבולטים ביותר בהיסטוריה של הפדגוגיה העולמית.
פריירה נולד למשפחה מהמעמד הבינוני וידע עוני ורעב במרוצת השפל הגדול של שנת 1929, התנסות אשר השפיעה עמוקות על דאגתו לעניים ואשר סייעה בעיצוב השקפת עולמו החינוכית. פריירה החל את לימודיו באוניברסיטת רסיפה בשנת 1943 ולמד משפטים, אך גם פילוסופיה ופסיכולוגיה של השפה. לאחר שעבר את בחינות לשכת עורכי הדין מעולם לא עסק במשפטים ובמקום זאת עבד כמורה בבית ספר תיכון ולימד את השפה הפורטוגזית. בשנת 1944 נשא לאישה את אלזה מריה קוסטה דה אוליבירה (Costa de Oliveira), אחת מעמיתותיו להוראה, והשניים עבדו יחדיו עד למותה, תוך כדי גידול חמישה ילדים.
